Updates: Babcock Half-marathon Trail Run
and Fun Walk!

Hello Trail Runners and Walkers!

The crew of the Babcock Half-marathon Trail Run and Fun Walk are busy here getting everything lined up for a great race at Babcock! That includes running there. There will be prizes,(oh yeah) and we will also be doing a $5 off ticket for local restaurants for ALL participants ... which has been popular. The park will be open as it was last year, it is the opening weekend. Check out the Babcock State Park website at http://www.babcocksp.com/ for cabins and camping, there will be options for you! There is so much to see and do here in the New River Gorge area.

Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine "Cup" Series is a free, Mid-Atlantic regional series.

Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series again in 2009! This is a national series (also free), and you are entered into the series when you participate in any of the Trophy Series races.

We are partnering with our local gym, Active Fitness Center & Active Recovery this year! Located in Oak Hill, WV, Active Fitness Center has a first class workout facility and is used by many of our local athletes, climbers, paddlers and folks looking for a healthy lifestyle. They will be promoting the run and walk to their members, and members can register there at Active Fitness Center. All that finish the run and/or walk will be entered in a drawing for cash! It is a great idea and opportunity to promote exercise and fitness here locally- we look forward to a great turnout from their membership and staff.

Anyone interested in some practice runs at the park? Contact us and we will try to coordinate it. You can split the course into an 8 mile or 5 mile loop.
