Dream Run '98
5K Run & 2 mile Walk
[Results]
A beautiful morning, with cool 60 degree temperatures, greeted the runners on Saturday Morning, September 12th, at the Kanawha State Forest. They were there to race a scenic, gently rolling, out-and-back route on paved roads through the Park. In addition, all the proceeds from the Dream Run 5K and 2 Mile Walk went to the Southern West Virginia Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Preparing to race into the Kanawha State Forest |
Not only was there great running weather on a relative friendly and scenic course, the post race ceremonies were also a treat. Immediately following the completion of the race, the organizers began to give out over 60 door prizes and even some cash to the top racers. With out delay, the trophies were presented to all the overall and age group winners. All this was accomplished by 9:45, just an hour and fifteen minutes after the start of the race!
Thanks go out to all the volunteers who helped out, including Dan Smithson and Tom Holstein. Also, the event wouldn't be possible without sponsors like the Kanawha Valley Chapter of Credit Unions, Thomas Memorial Hospital of South Charleston, and CUNA Mutual Insurance.
