Miles for Mission 5K

The Gary crew pose with their newly aquired awards
It was a wonderful Saturday morning on September 19th in McDowell County. A prefect day for a run in the small town of Gary. And what better way to kick of the annual Fall Festival, and to help out the McDowell Mission Project, than a 5K Road Race?

The fastest runner for the morning was Robert Redd, of Beckley, who finished the 3.1 miles in 20:30. A close second was Jimmy Miller, from Bluefield, in 20:42. Not only was Miller second overall, he was the Masters champion. The first female to cross the line was Adrienne Gard, from Elbert, in a time of 31:52.

After the run was over, the crowd was treated to some small town hospitality with awards for every competitor and plenty of refreshments.
