Fyffe, Jones 4.01K
Kicking things off in Huntington

The perfect day for a 4.01K Run, the sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and the warm air made this run through Ritter Park in Huntington an enjoyable event. The out and back course took the runners through the pathway of the park where groups of spectators cheered them on and than on into the level streets of Huntington where the men in blue watched out for the runners safety.

This day's event was sponsored and organized by a group of Fyffe, Jones CPA's employees and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District with all proceeds going to support the Big Brother, Big Sister program of the Tri-State area. The Big Brother Big Sister program pairs up volunteers with an at risk child to spend some quality time with the child. A lot of the children in the program are from single parent households where the parent and the child could use just a little extra help and time.

Will Colban on his way to the win
The overall Male and Female winners for the fourth annual Fyffe, Jones 4.01K Run for 2000 were Will Colban (13:19) of Virginia and Kelli McGraw of Charleston. Will is serving an internship in West Virginia for Ashland Co. Kelli, a familiar face in the winners' circle improved on her previous year's winning time of 15:35 by over a half minute to finish this year in 14:59.

Today's second place Overall Male and Female were Jared Smith (13:39) and Tomiko Williams. Jared will be starting training season later this summer for the University of Charleston's Track team. A young, up and coming star, Tomiko Williams of Kentucky captured her second place win with a time of 16:08. Tomiko attends Verity Middle School in Ashland where she runs for the school's track team.

Ron Alford of Huntington Track Club, Don of Fyffe, Jones CPA's and the countless volunteers were also winners for providing a well organized event and the support of a wonderful program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State Area. Hope to see you out there joining in the fun, and providing your support, next April for another 4.01K.
