Race Start
Trying to get a head start on the rain in Scottdale
The annual Scottdale 10k & 2-mile run/walk started at the YMCA and then took the participants through a street course within the beautiful downtown area of Scottdale and eventually back to the finish at the YMCA. Over 100 hundred people came out to the two races even though the weather forecast was not particularly swell.

Tommy Brittian captured the two-mile run in just over 11 minutes. He said that he thought this course was extremely fast and that he ran to try and match a certain time.

Ian Bath a Chesswick Pennsylvania resident captured the 10k run in just over 35 minutes. He said that the competition was pushing him hard for the first mile which he said they ran in 5:17. After that however, he was out on his own for the rest of the race. He said he liked the many hills that this course provided and that the running course was the type of course he prefers. Mike Bitner from Tarrs Pennsylvania finished second overall in roughly 37.5 minutes. He said that the course had a lot of tough hills and that the competition that Bath provided him was very tough.

Race Walk
All strapped up and ready to race
The first female overall was Janell Smith in a time of roughly 48.5 minutes. The Ligonier, Pennsylvania resident said that the course was very tough and challenging but she liked the hills that the course provided. She said she was pushed the entire race from the second place finisher who was approximately 25-50 yards behind her the entire race.

Toward the end of the race, unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and over the last mile or two the runners in the 10k were treated to a nice downpour which eventually changed to a drizzle after the race was over. But after the race, in the friendly confines of the YMCA, there were plenty of refreshments and lots of prizes given way away by the generous race sponsors.
