Elite runners and amateurs looking for a challenge returned to Parkersburg, WV for the 15th annual USATF Men's & Women's Half Marathon National Championship. Partly overcast skies helped to keep conditions for this years race bearable although the humidity was typical for the Ohio Valley in mid-August. The course, which winds its way through town and across the Little Kanawha river is relatively flat although the worst hill, up 13th street, comes late in the race when the legs are getting tired. Fortunately, there were water stops every mile along the course to keep the participants hydrated and a rest/massage tent at the finish line.
