A little sunshine before the final climb
The third annual Seth Fest (or Seth Fest III) run took place this past Labor Day in Downtown Fairmont, with over 125 runners and walkers converging on the course. This very unique race featured several steep hills and a few tremendous drops along the way.

The runners took off at 10 o'clock from Palatine Park and ran throughout the downtown area and over the Third Street Bridge.

On the men's side Jonathon Wright, a West Virginia Track team member, tamed the course in a time of 17:43 over a half minute ahead of second place finisher Murshid Latif who finished in a time of 18:22. According to Latif the course was very challenging with many hills and the competition that Wright provided was great.

Concentrating on a strong finish
Coming in third was University High student Stephen Hiser who finished in a time of 18:26.

On the women's side 13 year old Michele Welty of Fairmont captured first in a time of 23:12. Emily Corley, another Fairmont resident, captured second in a time of 23:56. Making it an all Fairmont top three, Kayla Wolfe rounded out the top three with a time of 24:39.

After the race many stuck around to here the 20 bands that played throughout the day as part of Seth Fest III. This race was more than just who could finish the fastest. It was really about everyone coming out to support the Seth Burton Memorial Fund Teen Center known as "Our Place."
