Some runners used the mile as a warm up for the 5K race. That is a tough double in one day.
After the mile came the main event, the General Lightburn 5k. Taking the lead and never looking back was Ron Weist with a winning time of 16:16. He won by nearly a minute over second place finisher Zac Newman who had a time of 17:14.
Coming in a close third was the local standout runner Murshid Latif with a time of 17:23. Watch out for Murshid this summer, he's just getting started after a long winter.
