Lisa Paddock & Robert Lancaster enjoy a little friendly, family competiton
Despite the rainy, cold weather, 25 runners and walkers showed up at Wisp Ski resort for the Railey Realty Waffle 5K run and 2K walk on Marsh Hill Road, sponsored by Railey Realty, Wisp Resort, & The Queen City Striders.

While waiting for the rest of the runners to run the final stretch to the finish line, this reporter was lucky enough to have a conversation with Mark Paddock who finished 11th place. Mark was at the race with his wife, Lisa Paddock, and his father-in-law, Robert Lancaster. Robert is 68 years old, and will only run in a race if Mark does. Robert Lancaster came in 18th place, and even though Lisa Paddock entered the 2K walk, she ended up running the whole 5K instead. Mark told us that even though he was from the area, he found out about the race right here from iPlayOutside.

In the 5K race for top women's spot, Maureen Hall was once again the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 20:35, only seconds behind her time from last year. Coming in second place for the women was Lynn Bridges with a time of 22:16, and Lisa Paddock (36:50), finished third.

Cruising to the finish
The overall winner of the 5K race was Tony Yurko, pulling across the finish line with a fine time of 17:45. Some seconds behind him was Daniel Dewitt ending with a time of 17:57. The third place spot was held by David Cuddington who got a time of 18:38.

Following the end of the race, all of the competitors and their families went inside the Wisp Resort Lodge to enjoy a hot breakfast of pancakes and fruit. During the meal, the winners of the race were announced and given prizes of their choice. There were also quite a few random prize giveaways. The prizes consisted of Wisp jackets and hats, and all were well appreciated.

Congratulations to all the winners, and to all the people who showed up to race on such a chilly spring day. Thanks to Railey Realty, Wisp Resort, & The Queen City Striders for sponsoring the Railey Realty Breakfast Run.
