Thomas Hospital Run
A good crowd on a clear day
On a Clear, cool morning in the City of St. Albans, West Virginia, the conditions were perfect for the runners and walkers who participated in the Thomas memorial Hospital's Annual Fitness Event. Over 200 running enthusiasts approached the starting line and close by, 46 registered walkers stood ready. It was the 23rd year for the Thomas Wellness Competition.

Glenn Baldwin was the Male Champion and Cristina Rossen came in the Female Champ. Baldwin completed the road race with a time of 16:48. Rossen crossed the line in 19:00 minutes flat. Second place overall spot holder, David Duncan (17:02), came in ahead of John Hull (17:17) who claimed third. Kasey Jividen finished second for the women with a time of 19:21, and Connie Young (19:59) a respectable third.

Medabolix won the Corporate Team Award, and Bill Riddle was the first wheelchair finisher. The youngest female to finish this year was eleven-year old Brittany Hughes who trotted in at 29:12. Six-year old Chad Johnson was the youngest male finisher with a time of 36:35.

Kathy Cantrell and Mark Rooper were named the 5K Walk top Female and Male overall winners. Connie Risner and S. Taravath were second in the Walk with Deborah Klimek and Allen West rounding out the top spots in third. Thomas Memorial Hospital's Behavioral Health was the Department Team Winner and Medabolix came in as the Corporate Team Walk top finishers.

First Pet Awards were presented to Deborah Klimek's Labrador Retrievers, Abby and Scooby, who were neck and neck at the finish line. Bob Midkiff (75 years young), and Delbert Short (just one year younger than Bob), were the oldest competitors in the Walk. Ten-year old Ali Derenburger finished as the youngest walker.
