Running for the finish
The racers gathered on Camden Avenue in front of the baseball field on the West Virginia Wesleyan College for to start the race. They lined up behind one of the race coordinators who led them through the course on her bike. After an iffy start where the gun didn't go off, the racers started down Camden Avenue and looped around the campus to the one-mile marker. After they passed the first mile marker they ran to the Buckhannon River Walk, did a figure eight on the trail, and ended up back on Camden Avenue.

There were a few crowd favorites this race; among them were Jimmy Hall and Dennis Crites. Jimmy was the youngest to enter the Buckhannon Autumn 5K, with his brother on the sidelines to cheer him on, and his dad participating, Jimmy came in a very respectable 11th overall, and 1st in his age class. Denis Crites was the oldest to enter the race, but by far had the largest cheering section. When Denis went past the finish line everyone stood up to cheer him on. Both Jimmy and Dennis were presented with trophies.
