HealthyHuntington.Org is a subsidiary of the Huntington YMCA dedicated to upholding the ideals of the HealthierUS Initiative from the White House. There are 4 primary goals of this: exercise daily, eat nutritiously, make healthy choices and get preventive screenings. Huntington, West Virginia is ready to tackle these goals and this race is just part of that.

Marathon Run Course: Runners will start on 3rd Ave. next to Cam Henderson Center, and wind through beautiful downtown Huntington, run next to the Ohio River, run through gorgeous Ritter Park. Runners will go as far west as Camden Park and then return back toward Marshall University and ultimately run the same 100 yards that football legends such as Troy Brown, Randy Moss, Chad Pennington, and Byron Leftwich have played.

Half-Marathon Walk Course: The 13.1 mile walk will start immediately after the marathon. The course will be on the same roads as the marathon.

Amenities: The first 200 marathon runners to sign up will receive a fleece pullover. All other runners and all walkers will receive a long sleeve T-shirt. Marathon finishers also receive a medal and a Finish Certificate.

Health/Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-up: Located in Cam Henderson Center, this will feature running and fitness merchandise and products. Hours will be Saturday, November 13th 10 AM to 7 PM

Runner Packet Pick-up & Late Registration: Will be at the Cam Henderson Center during the Health and Fitness Expo on Saturday 10 AM to 7 PM. In addition packets can be picked up 6 AM to 7:30 AM on Race Day.

Relay Information: Two or three people may run the marathon as a relay. The legs will be approximately 10, 11 and 5 miles. We will use Ritter Park for both transitions. Please indicate your team members and team name on the application. (You can pay separately or together).

Pasta Dinner: There will be a pasta dinner the night before the race. The location is not finalized yet. There will be a small fee for this.

Awards: Overall prizes will be awarded to the top 3 men and women and top 3 wheelchair entrants. Age group prizes will be given to the top 3 finishers in the following categories for men and women: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+, Athena/Clydesdale, relay men, relay women or relay coed. Only one award maximum per participant.

Additional Information: There may be a Marshall University football and/or basketball game on Saturday. The schedules are not known at this time. We will try to provide updates with this. They will not cause any change in the schedule of our events, but parking for the packet pickup and the fitness expo may be affected. For sports schedules log onto

NOTE - The course will be USATF certified for the race and will make an excellent Boston qualifier because it is flat and fast. Since this is the inaugural race it will take a little time to have the course certified, but it will be done. Check the website for updates on this.
