High-fiving the runners
Congratulations to all who competed in the First Annual Davis Health System Sprint Triathlon held at Stonewall Jackson Lake Resort Saturday, July 16th. The weather cooperated and the humidity didn't seem to affect the intensity and strong finishes on this race day.

Everyone had an opportunity to stretch their swimming muscles and clear their goggles before the race began. The water was warm and the racers were ready! The transition area was an organized collection of bikes, shoes, helmets and any racing necessity one could need.

Ready for a swim...
All stages of the race went well. There were no spills or major collisions, in fact, everyone had an opportunity to make their mark and gain ground. The finish line provided some classic sprints to pass first.

The course took each competitor through a beautiful section of Stonewall Jackson Park. The 400-meter swim looped part of the lake where spectators could view from the campground or from a boat. The 12-mile bike and a 3.1-mile run wound along the golf course. Racers commented that the course was fast and well supported by triathlon volunteers. Even Shelly the Yellow Lab enjoyed her 3.1-mile run around the park.
