Race at the Country Club
It is my privilege to announce the first annual Support the Troops 5k run and 2 mile walk hosted by the 646 Quartermaster Company of the U.S. Army Reserves. The money raised from the race will go directly to Family Readiness Group (FRG) of the 646th located in Kingwood and Beverly West Virginia. The FRG is comprised of the spouses families, dependants and friends of our soldiers who are currently mobilized.

What: 5k Run / 2 mile walk
When: July 30th, 2005, Race starts at 9:30AM
Where: Preston County Country Club, Kingwood, WV
Who: Open to everyone, (i.e. civilians, and military)
Why: Show support for deploying/deployed soldiers and their families and contribute to the family readiness group fund.

  • Registration 8:00AM-9:30AM
  • ALL participants must register to participate
  • Service members may, but are not required to wear their Physical Fitness Uniform
  • Collecting items for deployed soldiers (SEE LIST AT BOTTOM OF PAGE)

Course Description: There will be 2 simultaneous events, a 5k run and a 2 mile walk. The course consists of a paved road that is mostly flat with a few low rolling hills. The course will be clearly marked and described to participants during registration.

  • Overall Male & Female Champions (5k and 2mile)
  • Top three place winners in each age division (5k only)
  • Several random door prizes

    Age Divisions:

  • D1 up to 20 years M/F
  • D2 21 years to 30 years M/F
  • D3 31 years to 40 M/F
  • D4 41 years and up M/F
  • 2-mile walk does not have an age divisions just M/F

From I-68: Go to the Sabraton exit 4 off I-68 East, take Route 7 East through Masontown and Reedsville. You will pass a Dairy Queen and come to a 4-way intersection. Take a left and stay on Route 7 East, (approx. 13 miles). Drive towards Kingwood, WV (8 miles). Traffic light intersection and Hardees on left side of Route 7 East. Go straight down the until you cross the Cheat River Bridge. Take the first left after the bridge. Then take an immediate left. This road will take you to Preston County Country Club where the event will be held. The Preston County Country Club is located in front of Camp Dawson.

From Interstate 68 Via Bruceton Mills: Take Route 26 East towards Kingwood approx 15 miles Make a left onto St Joe Road, just before bridge in Albright, and follow it along the river approx 4 miles. Turn Right towards Camp Dawson military instillation and proceed until you come to the Preston County Country Club
