Challenging Loops at Peiffer Hill
Story and photos by Theresa Svoboda
Pro-Am Cycling Events, Inc. proved themselves totally worthy by running a smooth and professional road race. Peiffer Hill Road Race was held Saturday, July 12th in the rolling hills of Lancaster County, PA. Pro-Am has done a wonderful job capitalizing on the appeal that brings PA and MD riders together. Riders seeking challenging loops and worthy competition can find it in Lancaster County.
Set in a backdrop of nice long rollers and plenty of opportunity for catch up in the flats and a nice hilly finish for sprinting through the finish, the Peiffer Hill Race had some great appeal for the strong cyclist wanting to step it up a notch. Pennsylvania is starting to gain some momentum in the road cycling community, offering up some of the most challenging and scenic riding in the East.
Cat 4/5 had a nice show of riders, with 2 strong groups making a nice run for it at the finish. Brian Klotz from Corning took home first place, followed by a tight group of 12 riders all placing one after the next in a great sprint to the end.
Some strong riders are emerging this summer as race season is now in full swing. Rider's now are just all hoping the new road race organizers representing PA can continue the path of running excellent courses with plenty of professionalism and duty to the sport that garners respect in this neck of the woods. Best of Luck to Prom-Am Cycling Events!
