Rowlesburg, West Virginia is a very small town in Preston County, made famous by the Tray Run bridge, Cannon Hill, and other historical sights along the Cheat River.

Historical Tray Run bridge

As stated by Tim Weaver on http://www.rowlesburgguide.com --- "Rowlesburg was established as Vicksburg, VA in the early 1800s. When the B&O Railroad blasted its way down into Cheat Valley in 1852, the flat land was ideal for a way-station to fuel and water engines. As rail traffic grew, the need for more helpers grew and the town, by then named Rowlesburg, began to take on its present day shape. There are several significant homes and buildings in town as a recent historical survey reveals."

After racers began their journey at the city park they headed out along the flat, route 72. They ran through a short cave and headed back with the sun at their backs.

The first runner to return from the trek was Mitch Radella, 5K runner. With a time of 19:11, Radella won the 3.1 mile run. Dan Jones claimed second in 19:52 and Jason Sadlek crossed for third with a time of 24:30.

Lindsay Gleason (24:50), was first for the women in the 5K. Robin Barnett (27:52), took home second and Penny Watson (31:03) was third.

The 10K counted for points in the Morgantown Area Grand Prix (MAGP) Presented by Dynamic Physical Therapy.

Eighteen year old Sterling Snyder stayed ahead of Derek Bolyard to claim first in 34:48. Bolyard's time of 34:59 earned him second. Ryan Hanlon finished third in 38:13.

Jen Sober won the woman's prize completing the 10K in 42:17. Breanna Waack (45:41) was second and Karen Young (46:25), third.

With only one race left to go in the MAGP Sprint Series, Murshid Latif leads the race for total points with 534 points. Jim Banks is currently in 2nd with 528. Warren Smith holds third with 505.

Kaylyn Harris is set to repeat an overall win as the top woman with 519 points heading into the Back Bay 5K race. Heather Parks is second with 508. Sue Heavner has 491 in third.
