The Nicholas County High School Cross Country Team has teamed up with the City of Summersville and its Get Fit Stay Fit Program to offer our community the first Run to Remember 5K Run/Walk. The Run will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2011. The funds from the race will help the cross country team with expenditures such as travel and equipment needs.

The purpose is to give individuals the opportunity to honor loved ones who have passed away by participating in an event showing the courageous spirit of humans. Run or Walk to remember those we have loved and lost along the way.

The T-shirts will have a place on the back to write the name of person in which you are running to remember. Fabric markers will be available during registration.

• 7:00 to 7:50 a.m. - Registration
• 8:00 a.m. - 5K Run
• 8:05 a.m. - 5K Walk
• 9:00 a.m. - Kids Fun Run
• Awards immediately after race.

Course

The course is the same course used for the Potato Festival in September. It begins on Main Street and wraps back to the Summersville Elementary School. It continues onto McKee's Creek Road. There is a turnaround on this road, and the race finishes at the Summersville Baptist Church. The course is fairly flat with a few low grade hills. There will be a water station near the half way point and at the finish line. Course maps will be available during Registration.

Refreshments

Drinks, bananas, and apples will be available at the finish line. Refreshments will be provided by the Summersville Regional Medical Center.
