The four race Spring/Summer Series held in the Charleston, WV area promotes health, festivals, and outdoor fun. Presented by Charleston Parks & Recreation, the City of Charleston, and the Tallman Track Club, the series consists of runs and walks of varying distances, all on paved road or trail.

The Sundown Showdown was the 2nd event of the 4 race series, offering a 2-mile course closed to traffic that ended at the Charlie West Blues Festival down on the riverfront.

Andy Bailey ran a fast 2-mile race in 10:14 to finish first, beating out the competition by nearly 1 minute. Fred Jones was second with a time of 11:36, and Hilton Ingraham finished third in 11:58.

JR Sharp has run both races in the series thus far and finished 4th overall in each event.

Nicole Michaelis was the first female to finish. Her time of 14:13 earned her 16th overall.

Tina Bailes (3rd overall female in the Joker Race), was 2nd in the Showdown with a time of 14:23. Cathy Hill followed 4 seconds behind Bailes to cross as the third female.
