Rowlesburg is still a magical place.

Rowlesburg is a railroad town that has turned to tourism in a big way. All along Route 72, which follows the river for 30 miles, fishermen line the banks. Route 72 is a designated National Byway, and for good reason. The road follows the most beautiful, untamed rivers in North America. One observer noted on a recent visit, "Rowlesburg is still a magical place."

Walkers are Welcome . . . (5K ONLY) and are eligible for awards. Proceeds will benefit the Preston High School Cross Country and Track Teams. Thanks for your support!

Course

This flat and fast course runs along the Cheat River, out and back on Route 72 with a loop through a cave!

Awards

Top 3 male and female finishers, top 3 finishers in each of the following categories: 14 and under, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

Awards Ceremony will be at the Rowlesburg VFW, right by Rowlesburg City Park (race start and finish area).

Refreshments and Prizes

Refreshments to all runners and door prizes to those present will be held in the Rowlesburg VFW. T-shirts to all pre-registered runners, race day t-shirts not guaranteed. Four pumpkin pies will be given out!

Starts and ends at Rowlesburg City Park in Preston County, West Virginia. Located just 10 miles South of Kingwood on Route 72.

About the Area

The Rowlesburg Community Park is a multi-acre riverside public space with two baseball fields, a lighted walking path, basketball court, tennis court, picnic pavilions and a summer concession stand serving great food. Because of the deep valley, bicycle road riders find a paradise of paved mountain roads to test their mettle. Cheat Mountain rises from 1,400 feet in Rowlesburg to 3,000 feet just 10 miles east.
