You can do it! Walk or Run from Bartow to Durbin on the Back Road. The Durbin Days Back Road 5K footrace begins at 9:30 AM, registration at 9:00 am. Race begins at 9:30am. T-SHIRTS! PRIZES!

Race start, and registration is at the Bartow end of Back Road, near the Hermitage (Red Carpet Inn) at the intersections of highways 250/92/28 in Bartow, West Virginia. On some maps, you will see Back Road referred to as River Road, or Old Pike Road. The course is on a paved, low-traffic road.

All of the following are located in close proximity to the race start/finish. - Visit the Gaudineer Knob Overlook of Shavers Mountain in Pocahontas County.
Located about 5.5 miles from Durbin, West Virginia, travel west from Durbin on US 250 for 4 miles to Forest Service Road 27, then north on Forest Service Road 27 for 1.5 miles to the area. The Scenic Area is in the headwaters of Glade Run and Old Road Run, tributaries of Shavers Fork of Cheat River and West Fork of Greenbrier River, respectively.
- Ride the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad.
Enjoy the vastness and seclusion of the breathtaking landscapes as you ride the Durbin Rocket right out of Durbin, or the Cheat Mountain Salamander which takes you to High Falls.
- See the the world's largest fully steerable single aperture antenna at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), also known as the Green Bank Telescope.
Tour the NRAO and see first hand all 11 telescopes, including the Tatel Telescope which is best known for being used by Frank Drake for the first search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
