Brew Pub
Friday night post-race brought to you by the Brew Pub
The new management of both the WV Brewing Company and the Twilight 5-Miler teamed up to put on a quality evening event with everything you could ask for. Well, the one exception might have been the hot and humid weather, but with all the post-race festivities it was hard to complain.

Sweating their way through the thick evening air were brothers Josh and Travis Simpson. The pair were alone at the front of the race with Josh beating out his older brother at the finish by just two seconds.

As some consolation, Travis can know that his brother's winning time of 26:09.75 wasn't quite as good as his winning time from last year, 26:08.99. Travis finished second this year with a time of 26:11.89.

Third place overall went to Dan Monroe who finished with a time of 27:07.92.

Heather Parks set the women's mark with a finishing time of 30:00.37, but the conditions weren't good enough for her to improve on her women's course record time of 28:03.78 set in 2001.

Second to finish for the women was local high school standout Amber Riley (31:53.04). Rounding out the top three was the masters age runner Leslie Thomas (34:57.56).

For those that maybe did not want to work quite so hard for their post-race refreshments, a 5K walk is also held along with the 5-mile run. The fastest to stride through the 3.1 miles was Keith Bailey with a time of 35:34.12. Finish first for the women, and third overall, was Nathalie Singh-Corcoran with a time of 38:30.60.

No matter the race you participated in, nor the place you finished, everyone could enjoy a nice meal and cold drinks courtesy of the WV Brew Pub following the race. As part of the fun after the race there was a silent auction with quite a bit of nice sports memorabilia going to the highest bidder.

The auction and all the race proceeds went to support the West Virginia Friends of Track & Field (FOTAF). They thank you kindly for your support as they continue in their mission to reinstate the men's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs at West Virginia University.
