Start Time and Location: Race starts at 10:00am at the Preston County Country Club in Kingwood, West Virginia. The festival starts at 12 noon, located close by in Albright, WV.
Come Early/Stay Late: Both before and after the race Muscle Junction Massage Therapy will be providing sports massages free of charge to registered racers on a first come first serve basis. Stick around for the Cheat River Festival, to which all registered racers are granted free admission.
Course Description: This flat to rolling loop course begins and ends at the Preston County Country Club's Pro Shop. There is a slight incline at the start, until runners bear right onto the gently rolling Whetsell Road. At the 1-mile marker Whetsell Road intersects with Country Club Road. Runners will continue left on Whetsell Road as it parallels the rhododendron lined banks of Buffalo Creek. Shortly after crossing Buffalo Creek, runners will spot a turnaround that will direct them back to the intersection with Country Club Road. This time runners will proceed straight through the intersection onto Country Club Road. Just beyond the intersection lies the 2-mile marker. From this point on runners will encounter a mostly flat to slightly downhill course. At the next intersection runners will make a right and cruise along the Cheat River until they return to the Pro Shop, completing the circuit.
Cost: $20 if registered by April 28, 2007, thereafter $25. Fee includes Free Admission to The Cheat River Festival and first 100 registrants also receive free t-shirts! Race day registration is from 8:30 am - 9:45am.
Thanks! All proceeds go to the Preston Rail Trail Committee, a local group of citizens dedicated to converting abandoned rail road corridors into safe walking/biking trails in Preston County.
