This 2k/5k walk & run winds up, down and around the scenic mountain town of Davis, WV at the peak of fall color. The race is geared for all ages and abilities.
Cash awards, entry fees and sponsor donations support a variety of community causes. Live music, food and festival after the race.
Awards Top $29,000! . . . The Foundation dedicated $10,000 to the 2011 Grant Award Purse. Match Donors have contributed generously. Racers may be eligible for more than one award, and 100% of the award $$ is distributed to the cause designated by the winner. Read more below.
What . . . Run For It is a challenge grant program that kicks off April 1, 2011 and culminates with a 2k/5k walk and run the last Saturday in September. Sign up to walk, run, or roll (wheelchair or stroller) for your favorite community cause. You can register a team and get others to join your cause. You can wear a costume; you can even bring your well-behaved dog (as long as it's on a leash).
How & Why . . . The program offers 3 opportunities to raise support for community causes: entry fees, sponsor donations and race day Grant Awards. The largest Grant Awards reward efforts to raise awareness and support for your cause. Race proceeds are tabulated and distributed to the winner's cause at the end of the campaign.
Where . . . The race is held on the streets of Davis in conjunction with the Leaf Peepers Festival. The course starts and finishes at the Davis Fire Hall on Rt. 32.

Awards
In addition to TCF Grant Awards, USATF medallions are awarded to the 5k top 3 M/F overall, and by age category. Medallions are also awarded to the oldest and youngest participants in Run For It and 100% of the award $$ is distributed to the cause designated by the winner!

Youth Male/Female ($500), Adult M/F ($1,250), Masters M/F ($500) - Best Effort - Top 5 Teams or individuals judged on efforts to raise support & awareness, and/or race day presentation =
1st through 5th get $500 each. - Best of County Awards =
$500 to each WV county - Randolph, Barbour, Preston, Pocahontas, and Grant. Mineral (amount pending), plus $500 to Garrett, Maryland. - Teams Raising the Most Money =
1st Place ($3,000), 2nd Place ($2,500), 3rd Place ($2,000), 4th Place ($1,500), 5th Place ($1,000), 6th Place ($500) - Tucker County Commission Awards =
Top 5 Teams Raising The Most $$ For Tucker Causes will receive $1,000 each.
