KIDS K starts around 10 AM
Registration/Packet Pickup:
- $15 Entry Fee until September 7, 2012.
- $20 Entry Fee after pre-registration deadline and on race day.
- All persons registered before September 7, 2012, may pick up their packet at the Visitor Center, Exit 124 off I-79, on Friday evening, October 5, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. or the morning of the race.
- All packets must be picked up before 8:30 a.m. on race day. Chips will be given out on race day and must be returned immediately following the race.
- Registration will be held on race day from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. at the Visitors Center.

5K Awards & Door Prizes
Awards will be presented to the overall top three male and overall top three female finishers. Also, the first three male and first three female finishers in the age categories indicated below will receive medals:

14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44,
45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & Over
Door prizes and refreshments (water, juice, fruit, bagels, cookies) will be given out immediately following the race. No refunds will be given. The race will be held rain or shine.
5K Shirts
Commemorative heavyweight, long-sleeved T-Shirts and commemorative patches are guaranteed only to 5K Run/Walk participants whose registration forms are postmarked on or before September 7; thereafter, T-shirts will be provided to participants only while supplies last. You will be provided with the size of race shirt indicated on your form if you are pre-registered.
5K Course Description
- This is a somewhat challenging out and back paved course. The 5K starts and finishes on Jerry Dove Drive inside the East Security Gate on the FBI's CJIS Division Complex.
- The race course runs along Jerry Dove Drive toward the main CJIS facility where runners will loop around a portion of the parking area and return to the start/finish area.
- Chip-timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Services. A water stop will be set up at approximately miles 1 and 2 on the course. A warm-up/spectator area will be set up near the start/finish line. Due to the location of the race, no one will be permitted on the course prior to the start of the race, and only race participants will be allowed on the course after the race begins.
- Walkers are welcome. Walkers will line up behind the runners and begin at the same time.
- No bicycles, strollers, or roller blades will be permitted. Cameras are allowed only at the start and finish line area. No cameras are allowed on the course at any time. Children must not be left unattended at any time.
Event History
The roadway where this 5K race is to occur is named in honor of the late Special Agent (SA) Jerry Dove, a native West Virginian.
Prior to his FBI career, he was attached to the West Virginia State Police as an Attorney Advisor while employed by the West Virginia Office of the Attorney General. While assigned to the FBI's Miami Field Office, SA Dove was killed in the line of duty in a shoot out with two serial bank robbers in the infamous "Miami Firefight" on April 11, 1986. SA Ben Grogan was also killed. SA Dove has been honored for his heroic actions at numerous memorial services in Miami, the District of Columbia, and in Clarkburg, WV.
The FBI Jerry Dove Memorial 5K is dedicated to the memory of SA Dove and to all law enforcement officers, firefighters, military personnel, and others who were killed while serving in the line of duty.
