2012 Registration



Enjoy Fireworks and Fun!

The Fairmont Gateway Night Glow is back and full of the same fun stuff. Glow in the dark necklaces, fireworks, glowing t-shirts, and best of all, night racing. The route is similar to last years race but not as many hills! Fireworks will start the race and a full fireworks show will end it.

Race Times:

  • Registration: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • 5k Run: 8:00 p.m.

  • 2 Mi Walk: 8:00 p.m.

  • Awards: Immediately following the race.

Registration is located in Pavilion 1, located behind the new Marion County Visitors Center in Fairmont, WV. Earlier Registration will be available at Breakfast.

Breakfast:

Please join fellow runners for a carbo loaded breakfast at one of Fairmonts best eateries, CJ Maggies. Packet pick up and race registration will be available during the breakfast. Proceeds will benefit the Associated Businesses of East Fairmont

Course:

The 5K course is rolling, with one water stop and takes place on the new Alan B. Mollohan Gateway.

Awards:

    5K Run:

    The top three female and male finishers will receive collectible coins commemorating the new Allan B. Mollohan Gateway and Marion County CVB/MCPARC building.

    Prizes will also be awarded to the top two age group winners. Age group categories include: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-99.

    2 Mile Walk:

    The top 3 female and male walkers will receive collectible coins commemorating the celebration.

Timing:

Timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Training Services. Chip timing will be used.

Bathrooms:

There are 3 sets of bathrooms at East Marion Park which will be available: one set in the rear of Pavilion where registration takes place, one set to the left of mini golf & one set to the right of mini golf across from the playground.

Nightglow Course Description Start line: Between Stony Road & the Veterans Bridge. Runners & walkers will use the far left lane (southbound) of the connector. They will stay in this lane until reaching the 2nd traffic light. There they will be directed onto the sidewalk. . Runners & walkers will continue on the sidewalk until the bottom of the hill where they will turn left on Merchant St / 310.

Mile 1: This is shortly after the turn. . Runners & walkers will cross the street, go past the Auto Zone store & turn right down the hill. Runners & walkers will turn left on Water Street. As they go underneath the bridge, runners & walkers will separate. Runners will turn left on the sidewalk which goes to the bridge. Runners will turn left again as they enter the bridge. They will continue on the bridge sidewalk all the way across the river & then turn left. They will run by the rescue squad on Virginia St & turn right on 4th St. They will run up 4th St. to Fairmont Ave & turn right. Walkers will go out Water St. Near the intersection of Water St & diamond St, they will turn around. Walkers will proceed to Palatine Park. They will finish using the same finish line as the runners.

Mile 2: This is on the South Side Bridge which goes over the parking lot. Runners will continue onto Adams St. They will turn right on Monroe St & continue onto Washington St. Runners will turn right onto the High Level Bridge. On the East Side, they will turn right, briefly retracing their steps. After passing the Auto zone & turning right down the hill towards Water St, they will turn right (instead of left)

Mile 3: Runners will pass this mark near the entrance to Palatine Park. The common finish line is at the other end of the park.
